For Key. I’ve taken so many liberties…!
The Family Name
Lady Ginchiyo changed.
She’d used to spend entire mornings idling in the gardens, eating plump fruits while enjoying the sunshine on her back. She’d used to tell unsavoury jokes that made the tips of Munetora’s ears turn red. He’d swivel away and excuse himself, citing an essential task he absolutely had to attend to; Ginchiyo would laugh, slap his shoulder and ask, “How can such a seasoned soldier be so easily embarrassed?”
And then he’d smell her fresh perfume and be dangerously close to her dark eyes and he’d worry, for a moment, that he was falling in love more than a little – and in her contrary manner Ginchiyo would draw back, saying, “Go. The Lightning Edge must be missing you.”
